About Rachel
Rachel grew up in the Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx in New York City. She moved to the Chicago area to attend Northwestern University, from which she graduated in 2006 with majors in history and science in human culture and a minor in Jewish studies. Following several years working for the Center for Jewish Genetics on community education and outreach surrounding family health history and reproductive genetics, Rachel left her position to pursue a master’s degree in public health. Since receiving her MPH in 2011, Rachel has been working for the Illinois Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics on early childhood development initiatives. Rachel enjoys cooking, planning Shabbat dinners and holiday celebrations, doing pilates, attending Northwestern football games, and spending quality time watching TV with Michael.
About Michael
Michael grew up in the Chicago suburb of Lincolnwood, where he developed a life-long love of the Chicago Cubs. He followed in his father’s and grandmother’s footsteps by attending Northwestern University, where he met Rachel. During college, he played tenor saxophone in the Northwestern University Marching Band and was active in the Jewish fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi. Michael graduated with a major in mathematics and minor in Jewish studies in 2006. These days, he works in the sports data industry, ensuring that sports agents and professional sports labor unions have all the data and tools they need to advocate for the players they represent. In his spare time, Michael enjoys being Rachel’s sous-chef, tending to their container garden, cheering on his favorite sports teams (including, but not limited to, Northwestern Wildcats football and basketball, Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Blackhawks), managing home improvement projects, and watching TV, sometimes with Rachel.
