Rachel and Michael met as freshmen at Northwestern University. One week, Michael offered to learn the Torah reading Rachel had been assigned for Hillel Shabbat services instead of her. Rachel was so grateful she agreed to go out to Potbelly’s with him that Saturday night, just so long as it wouldn’t interfere with her prior commitment to attending her suitemate’s performance of Arrr! Pirates! on campus. [Editor’s note: The show was as bad as it sounds.] After a long night that also featured watching The West Wing and a Square One Television sing-along*, a permanent couple had been established.
Rachel and Michael have now enjoyed more than a decade of couplehood since that night in March 2003. From graduations to graduate school, hosting Passover seder to managing kitchen renovations, all while cheering Northwestern football seasons both good and not as good, Rachel and Michael have laid the foundation for a long-lasting partnership. As they approach their wedding, Rachel and Michael are excited to share this moment with their friends and family to celebrate both their history as well as their future.
